Account receivable and payable is one of the indispensable accounts in a business. When we track these accounts, we can understand the health of our business. Account receivables are the amount that is due to the company by a customer for the goods and services received. In the case of account payables, these are the amount that a business is liable to its suppliers. It’s shown on the liability side of the company balance sheet.
When a company transacts with another on credit one will record an entry to account payable and the other on account receivable. By default, there will be accounts receivable and payable in a company. So, when a company does transactions with their customer and vendors it will be marked in the common accounts of receivables and payables. But in Odoo Accounting we are able to mark separately the account receivable and payable for each customer and vendor as the need arises. As a result, separate transactions are generated for each customer and vendors and can be seen separately in the financial statements of the company.
The advantage is that, when we have a regular customer or vendor sometime, we need to check the receivables and payables separately for them. In such cases, it will difficult for us to find the receivable and payable account of that particular customer or vendor in the common account of receivable and payable. Here is the importance of separate receivables and payables accounts. Here in this video, we are dealing with the setting up of accounts receivable and payable of each customer and vendors apart from the common receivable and payable accounts of the business.
