To add a new vehicle in Odoo 18’s Fleet Management module, follow these steps:
Access the Fleet Application:
Navigate to the Fleet app from your Odoo dashboard.
Initiate a New Vehicle Entry:
On the Vehicles page, click the “New” button located in the top-left corner. This action will open a blank vehicle form. Odoo
Fill in Vehicle Details:
Model: Select the vehicle’s model from the drop-down menu. If the desired model isn’t listed, type the model name and choose “Create ‘model'” or “Create and edit…” to add it.
License Plate: Enter the vehicle’s license plate number.
Tags: Assign relevant tags to categorize the vehicle.
Assign a Driver (optional):
Driver: Select an existing driver or create a new one by typing the name and choosing “Create” or “Create and edit…”. Note that a driver doesn’t have to be an employee; they can be any contact.
Mobility Card: If applicable, this field auto-populates based on the driver’s information.
Future Driver: If there’s a planned driver change, specify the future driver here.
Plan to Change Car: Check this box if the current driver plans to switch vehicles.
Assignment Date: Indicate when the vehicle will be available for reassignment. Leaving it blank means it’s currently available.
Company: Specify the company, especially in multi-company setups.
Specify Vehicle Information:
Category: Choose the vehicle category or create a new one.
Last Odometer: Record the latest odometer reading and select the unit (kilometers or miles).
Fleet Manager: Assign a fleet manager responsible for this vehicle.
Location: Detail where the vehicle is typically stationed, such as “Main Garage” or “Building 2 Parking Lot”.
Add Additional Information:
Tax Info: Enter any tax-related details pertinent to the vehicle.
Contract Details: Provide contract information, including start and end dates, vendor details, and costs.
Model Specifications: Input specifics like color, model year, transmission type, number of seats and doors, and whether it has a trailer hitch.
Engine Details: Specify power units, fuel type, CO₂ emissions, and related standards.
Notes: Add any additional remarks or information about the vehicle.
Save the Vehicle Record:
After entering all necessary information, click the “Save” button to add the vehicle to your fleet database.
