General Options for Geolocation in Odoo
Odoo supports geolocation in multiple ways, depending on your use case:
Partners/Contacts Geolocation
In Odoo Contacts, each partner has a geolocation field (latitude/longitude).
There’s a “GeoLocalize” option (using Google Maps or OpenStreetMap APIs) to fetch coordinates from the address.
This can be used for things like route planning or delivery zones.
Sales/Delivery Geolocation
Delivery addresses can be mapped via integration with Google Maps or Mapbox.
Useful for last-mile delivery businesses.
Employee Attendance (Field Workers)
With Odoo Attendance or Field Service, you can enable geolocation when employees check in/out.
This requires allowing Odoo to use the mobile device’s GPS (on the Odoo mobile app).
