Two-step manufacturing in Odoo is a simplified process for creating finished products that involves two main steps: picking components and then manufacturing the final product. Here’s a breakdown of what it entails:

The Two Steps:

Picking Components: Odoo generates a manufacturing order (MO) specifying the product to be manufactured and the quantity. Based on the Bill of Materials (BOM), it also creates a separate transfer order to pick the required components from the stock location.

Manufacturing: Once the components are picked and moved to a pre-production stage (optional), the manufacturing process takes place. Odoo manages the production based on the operations defined in the BOM.

Key Points:

Unlike three-step manufacturing, there’s no automatic transfer order created to move the finished products back into stock after manufacturing.
Inventory levels are still updated based on the manufactured quantities.
The number of steps (two or three) used in manufacturing is configured at the warehouse level, allowing for flexibility.
Benefits of Two-Step Manufacturing:

Simpler and faster process compared to three-step manufacturing, especially for scenarios where finished goods are directly shipped or managed elsewhere.
Reduced workload on the inventory team by avoiding unnecessary internal transfers.
